Omg, 50gb of disk space for remote hosting. That boggles my mind...

I'm with interxstream. They have all the bells and whistles, mysql, cgi, unlimited subdomains, unlimited emails, tons of pre-installed scripts to use on your site, etc etc... They're using cpanel 10. Its only linux. Their customer service is superb.
They've helped me with setting up coffeemud on my remote hosting even though it was limited. The fact that they took the time to help me solve problems such as setting up shoutcast on their end and customizing it for my end, coffeemud as mentioned above, implemented some of my suggestions, etc.
One thing about hosting is not just what they offer, everyone can offer the same bells and whistles, its their customer service. I've been with hostonce.com, don't think they're much in business anymore. But they boasted unlimited bandwidth, great customer service via email, etc etc. Come to find out they are crappy to say the least.

Just recommending www.interxstream.com since I've been with them for over 5 years.
Nothing like the 50gb disk space above, just only 1 gb storage for you pages/images/scripts/music, etc. Yet they provide 20gb monthly bandwidth. This is in texas u.s.

Do you mean a web server that you can run? Or do you mean a web hosting company, if you mean a web server, try Apache
Malthe.

A webhosting package that has 50 gb of bandwidth and only 5 gb of space seems a bit strange.
What tends to happen lots in the webhosting inderstry is overselling, which is when a company will sell more space then they have actually got.
Lets say for example that one of there servers has a 200 gb drive in it. That means that really, they can only fit 3 and a bit clients on it. $3*3.5=$10.5 now thats really not going to pay for a server of any spec is it.
So, they put more clients on the server than the server can take (probably about 40 or 50 for that price) with the assumption that no one will use there 50 gb of space. I mean, your not going to are you? a php driven page with sql db's, emails, high res graphics and losless music on the homepage isn't going to take 50 gb. The problem here is that if one or even 2 people combined did use 50 gb of space, they would probably be kicked off for some reason. Another problem with this business stratergy is that it causes problems for customers that resell there service.

Don't bother trying to find a free host that has everything you want, they very rairly exist unless you kno a friend that can host you; a free host with php, sql ftp no file size limit and all the other goodies that you will want isn't there, even if you don't mind displaying adds.

BEN.

If you really want security run open bsd. It's so hard to get working right you'll never change it and screw things up.
